Founded in 1980, Women In Need, Inc. (WIN) began as a powerful grassroots movement, consisting of neighbors in Greenville coming together after recognizing a lack of support for survivors of domestic violence in Northeast Texas. With the dedication of early advocates and the pivotal support of Doris Jones and Mildred “Mo” Bates, who helped fund the foundation of the shelter, WIN opened its doors with one clear mission: to provide safety, support, and a path forward for men, women, and children in crisis.
What started as a small, passionate effort has grown into a leading domestic violence nonprofit serving Hunt, Rockwall, and Rains counties. Today, WIN offers comprehensive services designed to meet survivors wherever they are in their journey, including emergency shelter, 24/7 crisis intervention, legal advocacy, support groups, and prevention education.
Every service we provide is fueled by the generosity of our community. WIN is funded through donations, grants, and proceeds from our resale shops, My Sister’s Closet.
As a trusted domestic violence shelter in Northeast Texas, WIN remains deeply committed to breaking the cycle of abuse, empowering survivors, and building safer, stronger communities.
